With the cold winter days upon us, cuddling up with a warm Anchal quilt while drinking Indian tea creates the needed escape from the blistering outdoors. The trunk show this past Saturday at Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville provided just this getaway. While guests sipped tea, they perused the latest shipment of gorgeous, one-of-a-kind Anchal quilts & pillows. They also discovered the talents of the Sacred Heart students, who generously made ceramic tea bowls, headbands, and ornaments to benefit Anchal’s artisans.
The day was an incredible success filled with fantastic conversations & many quilts finding new homes. We sold 80% of our merchandise and even sold out of the students ornaments and headbands! All the funds raised will be directly used to sponsoring Anchal’s current artisans as well as hiring additional women on the waiting list.
All of this would not have been possible without the amazing support and energy of the Sacred Heart community. We want to extend a special thank you to Dr. Beverly McAuliffe, Mrs. Amy Baker, and all the students who made this event possible! Also thank you to our faithful volunteers Tom & Elizabeth Clines, Ann Kleine-Kracht, Susan Clines, Sarah Grady, & Maggie Clines.
I am truly amazed by the power of women helping women across the world. What a wonderful effort in helping fight social injustice. Anchal is looking forward to future collaboration with the students and teachers of Sacred Heart.
